About Us
Mission West Virigina (MWV) is contracted by the WV Department of Human Services (DoHS) to operate the Adoption Resource Exchange (ARE). The ARE is a statewide website for WV youth waiting for an adoptive family. Mission WV has a longstanding role recruiting foster families and finding families for youth waiting for an adoptive family.
Our Goals
- To serve youth by providing their photo and narratives so families interested in adoption can learn about each youth. Youth 12 and older are encouraged to provide input to their story and recruitment.
- To serve families by providing access to the Waiting Youth Photo Gallery so they may view WV’s youth available for adoption. Families can learn more about each youth when they complete the registration/log in process. Family inquiries for a youth/sibling group will be forwarded to the youth’s DoHs worker for consideration. The ARE website also provides general information about adoption and the adoption process in WV.
- To serve DoHS staff by assisting staff in getting all youth eligible and interested in adoption on the Waiting Youth Photo Gallery and provide them with inquiries of interested families. The MWV ARE also provides resource information about adoption for DoHS staff, Child Placing Agencies, and other professionals on their website.
